Athlone Town has been announced as the Pfizer / Irish Times Healthy Town 2015.
It will see an eight-week programme run in the town combining health promotion events, information meetings, health checks, and physical activity sessions to encourage the people of Athlone to improve their health.
The free campaign starts in September, and is supported by the Department of Health and the Irish Heart Foundation.

Ulster Bank's new Skills & Opportunities Fund will launch on Monday 11 May. The Fund will provide grants for charities, social enterprises, community groups, state-funded schools and colleges based in the Ireland and Northern Ireland, to fund projects aimed at helping people learn new skills, find employment or start a business.
This builds on the £500,000 funding already provided to 47 community projects in the last two years through Ulster Bank's all-island Community Impact Fund. Furthermore, Ulster Bank are making a commitment to continue this strategic community support for the next three years.
