The HSE is warning about an outbreak of measles in the south of the country after 26 children were struck down by the illness in Kerry and Cork in just the first few weeks for this year. That compares with just 5 cases for all of 2008.
The HSE is advising parents to ensure their children are immunized against this potentially fatal disease. Many of the recently infected had not been vaccinated with the MMR vaccine. Please contact your G.P. for further information.
