Applications are invited for the following post

Community Development Health Worker for Travellers

(one year full time contract which may be extended subject to funding)

The position will be mainly based in Athlone/Mullingar and the primary role will be to work with the Travelling Community with the view to improving the capacity and health status of Travellers.

Ideal Candidates should have:

· A 3^rd level qualification in a Health related discipline or Community Development

· At least 2 years experience of Health promotion in a community development setting

· Very good understanding of social determinants of Health

· Good understanding and knowledge of Traveller policy

· Good communication and facilitation skills

· Good working knowledge of IT

· Experience of working in partnership with statutory, community and voluntary agencies.

· Full clean driving licence and access to use of a car

· Experience of working with the Traveller community is desirable
