Ladies and Gents,

On Sat 28 Feb 09 Columb Barracks is hosting a fun event, an 8k walk or run to raise awareness and funds for the stroke unit in Mullingar Hospital, while also promoting our local tourism in the Belvedere House and the lakes.

I attach an entry form, poster and sponsor card for your consideration, and hope you will join us on the day, where you will meet the best of people.

Registration will begin from 9 o clock in Columb Barracks and the event will begin at 11 o clock sharp. You can still enter on the day of the event, as we know how busy everyone is these days.

Our friends from the local Gardi and Civil Defence will supervise the route out, and the event  will finish in the beautiful Belvedere house and gardens, where all of the amenities are free to those who take part, and their families.

There will be prizes for the "competitive" group, and spot prizes for the ordinary entries like myself. There will also be a free draw for all who enter for a year’s free membership to the Bloomfield Hotel Gym, with a value of 635 Euro.

Declan Cleary, one of our local DJs, to give it a carnival atmosphere, will provide music at the finish.

We particularly hope to get young people out, where we, the adults, can set them the example of doing something for their local hospital/ community.

I asked,” why doesn’t someone do something". And then I realized I was somebody.

So let us do something together for Mullingar hospital stroke unit, promote local tourism and have some fun while we do it.
