The Hedge Laying Association of Ireland under the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund in association with Westmeath County Council are doing a public hedge laying demonstration in the grounds of Ballinlough Castle, Clonmellon, near Delvin, Co Westmeath on Saturday 20th of February from 1 p.m. to 4 p.mAdmission is free.

Come along and see professional hedge layers at work, demonstrating this traditional form of hedgerow management and receive expert advice on how to plant, maintain or rejuvenate your hedgerows. 

This event will appeal , not only to farmers and planners involved in REPS , but also to community and tidy town groups , as well as students from primary through to third level , who may be doing projects with an environmental angle . In fact any one trying to be more eco- friendly.

The HLAI  “Hedgucation” mobile display unit will also be on hand to provide information packs on hedge laying and the value of well maintained hedges.

LA21 is a local government-led, community-wide process, jointly funded by Westmeath Co. Council and the Department of Environment Heritage and Local Government, which facilitates sustainable development at a community level.
