For the first time in the history of Mullingar, the town will be transformed into a virtual festival site hosting free outdoor concerts. There will be 5 stages located throughout the town hosting some of Ireland’s finest musicians catering for all tastes in music. The stages will be located on the following streets; Austin Friars Street, Castle Street, Pearse Street, Mount Street and Dominic Street.One of the “world’s biggest rock bands” will be making an appearance throughout the town on the day. These big headed rock stars will visit each stage and will feature in the parade itself. Can you guess who this rock band is? From 1.30pm until 3.00pm a unique special one off performance featuring members of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and the Midlands Youth Orchestra will take place in the unique setting of the Presbyterian Church Castle Street – Admission free, all welcome. Some of Galway’s finest street entertainers are appearing at this year’s festival. Acts such as clowns, mimes, fire acts, acrobats, stilt walkers and samba & tribal drummers. Galway’s “Stage Craft Ireland” will perform their new street theatre show which is based on this year’s theme “The Environment”. Also making an appearance this year is the Snake Handler who will be located at the Market Square area in the centre of the town. The location of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA) has been changed from the Town Mall. They will now be located in the Presbyterian Church in Castle Street. Come early to enjoy “your St. Patrick’s Day Festival” The parade itself will start at 4.00pm with viewing from Patrick Street throughout the town. Float entries must assemble at Grange at 2.00pm sharp with youth groups and walking groups assembling at 3.00pm sharp.
